For Animal Assisted Therapy

A First-of-its-Kind Initiative · SGGS College, Sector 26, Chandigarh

About the Society

Compassion, dignity, and respect — building a campus where every living being is valued.

The PAWS Humane Society for Animal Assisted Therapy is a unique, first of its kind initiative which aims to sensitise students about animal welfare, facilitate an environment of dignity and respect between humans and animals, and to promote compassion and empathy for all living beings.
Founded with the intention of instilling compassion for all animals and treating them with empathy and affection — PAWS stands at the intersection of student wellbeing and animal welfare.
From advocacy and education to on-campus pet therapy programmes, PAWS works to turn the College into a dog-friendly vicinity — where animals find safety and students find comfort in their company.

Our Objectives

Seven guiding aims that shape every initiative of the PAWS Humane Society.

To provide unwanted animals in our community with a safe haven, medical treatment, food, and a chance at a second chance at life.

To safeguard animals against cruelty, neglect, indifference, and ignorance.

To promote responsible pet ownership and encourage others to do the same.

To educate and inform the public about animal issues, as well as to assist in the development of short and long-term community-based solutions.

To sensitise students and create an environment of dignity and respect between humans and animals.

To turn the campus into a dog-friendly vicinity — where animals are welcome and well cared for.

To initiate pet therapy programmes that bring dogs to students who need a break from the stressful environment — turning campus calm into something that walks on four paws.
