Four pathways within the BA

BA (General)

The flagship liberal-arts track, with combinations across languages, social sciences and humanities.

BA IT (Information Technology)

80 seats · 3 years

A BA pathway with Information Technology as an elective, for students who passed +2 with IT or Computer Science.

BA Religious and Sikh Studies

80 seats · 3 years

A dedicated pathway examining religious traditions with depth, including Sikh thought, history and scripture.

BA II / III (Hons)

After 1st Year

Honours specialisation available in Economics, English, Hindi, or Sociology — for students scoring 50% in the concerned elective in BA-I.

BA (General) 3 - Year 1300

i) A student who has passed with a minimum of 33% marks in the aggregate in the +2 examination or equivalent of the recognised Board / University, with English as one of the subjects. Otherwise, he / she has to pass the deficient English subject with the parent Board / University in two consecutive chances; failing which admission will automatically stand cancelled.

BA IT (Information Technology) 3 - Year 80

ii) Students opting for Physical Education as an Elective Subject will have to appear for the Cardiovascular Fitness Test, Cooper's 9 minutes or 12 minutes Run / Walk Test. Only students who qualify the above Physical Fitness Tests will be allowed to opt for this subject. Dates for these tests will be displayed on the College Notice Board.

ii) Students opting for Information Technology (IT) should have passed +2 Exams preferably with Information Technology / Computer Science as elective / optional subject.

BA Religious and Sikh Studies 3 - Year 80
BA II / III (Hons) Student can apply for B.A. (Hons.) in following subjects (Economics, English, Hindi, Sociology) after 1st Year. Students having secured 50% marks in the concerned elective subject (Semester 1 and Semester 2) of BA I.

Two Important Conditions

For specific elective subjects

Physical Education Elective

Duration

Three years (six semesters), as per Panjab University's curriculum.

Eligibility

Pass in +2 with English as one of the subjects, with the minimum aggregate prescribed (see the table above for stream-specific conditions).
