Sri Guru Gobind Singh College houses the on-campus Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Boys' Hostel, providing a safe and comfortable residence to undergraduate and postgraduate students. With a total intake capacity of around 300 students, modern infrastructure including AC rooms, e-surveillance for round-the-clock security, and access to lush green gardens and sports facilities, the hostel offers a vibrant residential experience for the College community.

How to Apply

Hostel Admission Process

  1. The application for admission to the Hostel must be made in the prescribed form, which can be obtained from the Hostel Office.
  2. Admission to the Hostel is strictly based on merit and availability of seats.
  3. After confirmation of admission to the College, the student is required to fill the Hostel Admission Form in duplicate copy and Hostel Resident Identity Card. The student should paste his recent passport-size photographs on both.
  4. The student is required to personally meet the Hostel Warden along with his Parents / Guardian (only if parents are not alive) and a local Guardian.
  5. After the approval from the Hostel Warden, the student is referred to the Principal for final approval, and if approved, the student is required to deposit the Hostel Fee on the same day to confirm his hostel seat / room.
  6. Any student who fails in the University examination or who has been found guilty of misconduct and indiscipline in the Hostel will not be readmitted in the next session.
  7. The internal administration of the Hostel vests in the Hostel Warden, who works under the guidance of the Hostel Committee and is assisted by the Hostel Office Staff.
  8. The Principal of the College has the final authority in deciding admissions to the Hostel, and can refuse admission without assigning any reason thereof.
Ragging is banned inside and outside the Hostel. Students are required to submit an Anti-Ragging Affidavit at the time of admission.

Accommodation

Hostel Accommodation Rules

  1. Rooms in the Hostel will be allotted by the Hostel Warden according to the policy of the College.
  2. The hosteller gets the following amenities in the room: Study Table, Chair, Bed (Without Bedding), Cupboard, Fan and Tube Light.
  3. The hostellers must take due care of their respective rooms and ensure cleanliness of the same.
  4. In case the student chooses an AC Room, he will have to pay additional charges.
  5. A dormitory will not be allotted to a single person even on full payment. If one of the residents of the dormitory leaves, either another resident will be put in that dormitory or the resident will be moved to another room, as per availability.
  6. A hosteller cannot shift from the allotted room without the permission of the Hostel Warden.
  7. The hosteller will keep the Hostel Resident Identity Card duly attested by the Hostel Warden with him and present it on demand by the authorities. In case of loss, a duplicate card will be issued on payment.
  8. The hosteller must return the Hostel Resident Identity Card to the office of the Hostel Warden at the time of vacating the Hostel, failing which a fine will be charged.
  9. The hosteller will have to vacate his room at the end of the Academic Session. Residents will not be allowed to stay in the Hostel during summer vacations once the University examinations are over.

Inclusive Campus: Sri Guru Gobind Singh College is the only College in the region recognised as an Inclusive and Accessible Campus for Differently-abled students, audited under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
Discipline & Conduct

Hostel Rules

  1. Discipline and decorum in the Hostel must be maintained by the hostellers.
  2. The Hostel gates are closed at 9:30 pm. No hosteller is allowed to leave the hostel after that. Late comers are allowed to enter only with the permission of the Hostel Warden.
  3. Hostellers must remain in the Hostel from 9:30 pm to 6:00 am.
  4. No student is allowed to leave his room and sit in another student's room after 11:00 pm in order to maintain discipline.
  5. Hostellers are not allowed to order food from outside the College after 10:30 pm.
  6. Absence from the Hostel at night or late arrival without prior permission of the Hostel Warden will be considered an act of gross misconduct and is liable for disciplinary action.
  7. Any hosteller found disturbing the academic environment of the Hostel — shouting, hooting or picking fights with fellow hostellers — will be punished.
  8. Hostellers will not get involved in any political activities during their stay in the Hostel.
  9. Any hosteller keeping or consuming alcohol / intoxicants or smoking in the Hostel premises will be expelled from the Hostel as well as from the College.
  10. The hostellers will be responsible for the safe custody of their belongings. Expensive electronic gadgets are not allowed in the Hostel.
  11. Hostellers are not allowed to stand or sit in the balcony of their rooms during College hours.
  12. Hostellers are not allowed to put their clothes and chairs in the balcony of their rooms.
  13. The hostellers should not entertain day scholars in the Hostel rooms.
  14. Admission to the Hostel in the next session will be based on the previous record of the student's stay.
  15. Admission of frequent defaulter residents can be cancelled, and they shall not be given admission to the Hostel in the next session.
  16. Every hosteller will be personally responsible for safety and maintenance of the furniture provided. Repair charges for any damages, including electric switches, window panes, doors and defacing of any property of the Hostel, will have to be paid by the guilty students.
  17. All electric appliances like lights, fans, geysers etc. must be switched off when not in use.
  18. The use of electric heaters, electric rods, electric irons, electric kettles and other similar electric appliances is not allowed in the Hostel.
  19. All routine complaints related to water, electricity etc. should be written in the register kept with security guards along with the room number and name of the hosteller.
  20. Hostellers permitting or abetting unauthorised occupation of the rooms shall be liable to:
    1. Expulsion from the Hostel
    2. A fine up to Rs. 2,000/- or more
    3. Any other punishment deemed fit by the authorities
  21. Hostellers shall follow all Hostel rules and regulations.
  22. Hostellers must keep their rooms clean and maintain a healthy and hygienic atmosphere inside and outside their hostel rooms.
  23. Residents should use the hostel Wi-Fi judiciously and follow the norms of cyber security to avoid all kinds of cyber malpractices.

Rules for Outing

  1. The outing of the Hostel residents with parents / local guardians will be allowed only with the prior written permission of the Hostel Warden. The resident should come back to the Hostel in time.
  2. The Hostel Warden has the right to deny an outing to the resident due to previous misconduct.

Leave Rules

  1. For availing leave from the Hostel, the resident must apply through the prescribed form.
  2. The residents must make an entry in the Entry Register before going home and joining back.

Rules for Vacating Rooms

  1. The hosteller will have to vacate his room at the end of the Academic Session. The residents will not be allowed to stay in the Hostel during summer vacations once the University examinations are over.
  2. Before leaving the Hostel, every resident shall obtain a Clearance Certificate from the Hostel Warden and personally hand over the charge of the room and Hostel property to the Security Guard on duty.
  3. The Hostel residents will be fully responsible for any damage / loss to the Hostel property. Repair charges for any damage to the furniture will have to be paid by the resident along with a minimum penalty of Rs. 2,000/-.

Medical Care

  1. The hostellers are required to observe the fundamentals of personal hygiene and good health. In case of any kind of medical emergency, the Hostel Warden should be informed immediately.
  2. All steps have been taken to provide prompt medical aid in the Hostel. In case of illness, the Hostel Warden should be informed immediately.
  3. Bhai Kanhaiya Health Centre in the College campus provides facility for first-aid.
For Parents & Visitors

Visitor & Mess Rules

Rules for Parents / Guardians / Visitors

  1. Parents / guardians are required to submit the name, address and contact number of the local guardians of their wards to the College Principal and the Hostel Warden at the time of joining the Hostel.
  2. Parents should bring their proof of identity such as Aadhaar Card, Passport, Driving License, etc. at the time of admission of their ward.
  3. Only married couples above 30 years of age are eligible to be local guardians.
  4. Guests are not permitted except parents coming from far-off distances, with prior permission from the Hostel Warden.
  5. Parents shall submit a list of persons allowed to visit their wards in the Hostel.
  6. No guests are allowed to stay in the Hostel room at night. Visitors must leave before 7:00 pm.
  7. Residents are not allowed to keep outsiders in their rooms. If an outsider is found illegally staying in the room of a resident, the resident shall be liable for a heavy fine and severe punishment.

Rules for the Hostel Mess

  1. The Hostel Mess will remain functional as per the Academic Session Schedule.
  2. Food in the Mess will be served as per the menu fixed at the beginning of the session.
  3. Every resident will pay the Mess charges at the time of admission, which include two standard meals a day — Lunch and Dinner. Breakfast and Evening Tea / Snacks are available on extra payment.
  4. Zero Food Wastage is promoted as a good practice in the College.
  5. Residents will not enter the cooking area of the Mess.
  6. Residents are not allowed to take food and Mess utensils to their rooms.
  7. Residents must not enter the Mess without proper attire.

Hostel Fees

The fee structure below is for the academic session 2025-26 and covers a total of 9.5 months.

Refund of Hostel Fee

In case a hosteller vacates the Hostel room during the session and the room is allotted to another student, the Hostel fee will be refunded as per the following criterion:

  1. If the hosteller leaves after staying for 1 day, the fee will be refunded after deducting one month's charges on a proportionate basis.
  2. If the hosteller leaves after staying for 10 days + 1 day, the fee will be refunded after deducting two months' charges.
  3. If the hosteller leaves after staying for 20 days + 1 day, the fee will be refunded after deducting three months' charges.
  4. If the hosteller leaves after staying for 1 month + 1 day, no fee will be refunded.
Conduct

Code of Conduct

  1. Residents are expected to live a disciplined life in the Hostel. Acts of indiscipline, misbehaviour, gambling and use of intoxicants in the Hostel premises shall be strictly dealt with.
  2. An incorrect statement / address filled by the student in the Hostel Admission Form would result in the cancellation of admission.
  3. Residents should be properly dressed while going to the Common Room, Dining Hall, Hostel Office and Hostel functions, failing which it will be considered an offence and a fine may be imposed.
  4. All residents must attend their classes regularly. No student is allowed to stay back in the Hostel during College hours without any valid reason.
  5. A moral code of conduct is necessary for the residents. They should deal with staff members, roommates and workers of the Hostel and Mess politely.
  6. Study Hours are observed in the Common Room from 10:00 pm to 1:00 am. Silence should be maintained during study hours.
  7. Lights must be switched off when not in use.
  8. Residents must co-operate with the Hostel authorities in keeping the Hostel neat and clean.
  9. Residents should not keep cash, jewellery or other valuables in their rooms. The risk and responsibility for the safety of belongings including mobile sets, laptops and desktops will be entirely that of the residents.
  10. The use of radio or any sound system is strictly prohibited.
  11. Every resident shall be responsible for the safety of the furniture / other articles provided to him. Furniture is neither to be removed from one room to another nor carelessly kept outside the room. Anybody indulging in this practice will be liable for disciplinary action.
  12. Residents should make every effort for peaceful co-existence and maintaining the decorum of the Hostel. In case of any dispute, residents must inform the Warden in writing and abstain from taking the law into their hands.
